| The
Sleep Education and Research Foundation, a nonprofit public benefit
corporation, was established in 1996 by Nelson B. Powell, MD and
Robert W. Riley, MD.*
The
purpose of the Foundation is to provide education and training,
and to support medical and surgical research, in the field of sleep
disorders. In addition to on-going research projects, the Foundation
sponsors an educational course titled "Contemporary
Surgical Concepts and Techniques for Sleep-Disordered Breathing",
which is designed for medical and surgical specialists. The Foundation
serves to provide a vehicle whereby information about sleep disorders,
including current methods of treatment, may be shared within the
medical community so that the patient population may be better served.
Educational information is also provided to the general population
so that those affected by sleep disorders or sleep deprivation may
be better informed.
The
Foundation relies on support from private individuals, businesses,
corporations and other foundations in order to meet these goals.
We will forward on request to financial supporters a copy of verification
of our tax status so that contributions will qualify for tax deductions,
or you can download this document by going to the "donations"
section of this website and following the steps to printing out
this document. Contributions are greatly appreciated. For additional
information please contact the Foundation at the address below.
The Foundation does not attempt to influence legislation, participate
or intervene in any political campaign, or support or oppose any
candidate for public office.
